We pre-recorded today's conversation via Zoom with Corey Childs from the Warren County Extension Office to talk about backyard chickens.

Corey explained the role he plays in partnership with localities to determine ordinances and proper care for those interested in keeping backyard chickens. We talked about all the reasons that someone would be interested from food insecurity to simply having them as pets, plus all the things one should consider including space, feeding, removal of waste and of course, neighbors.

If you're interested in having backyard chickens, reach out to Corey with any questions and check your locality for rules and regulations.

While Corey is based out of the Warren County office (220 N. Commerce Avenue, Suite 500 in Front Royal) he serves all five surrounding counties. He can be reached via phone: 540-635-4549 or email: cchilds@vt.edu
