We were on the screen for today's conversation with Gannon Nordberg, an instructional technologist at Lord Fairfax (becoming Laurel Ridge) Community College to learn about the role diversity plays in how professors are teaching their courses.

Gannon explained his position and talked about the support he offers to the faculty at the college. We talked about the changes in learning and teaching brough about during the pandemic and how many of those will remain as things settle into a new normal.

We talked about diversity in a new way, from a learning perspective. He explained that it's a collection of different experiences and similarities that include individual and organizational characteristics, personal values, beliefs, experiences, different backgrounds, different preferences, different behaviors, and by bringing that into the classroom, it will help students and learners in a more effective way.

He told us about four strategies for creating diversity in the classroom and the ongoing work that will go into ensuring this program's success.
