Our conversation today with Guy Curtis, Director of Marketing for Laurel Ridge Community College featured engineering professors Liz Palffy and Alex Peebles.

Alex & Liz gave details for their upcoming "Exploring Engineering with 3D Design & Robotics" camp that will happen at each campus. In Middletown, it will take place on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 9am - 5pm. In Fauquier, it will take place on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 9am - 5pm. The camps are geared towards rising high school junior or seniors interested in pursuing an engineering degree.

The program sessions will include using Arduino microcontrollers to create and operate robotics, and using students' creativity to build “best” 3D design-and-print project. Also included is a complimentary lunch during which students will meet current Laurel Ridge engineering students and ask them about their educational pathways and experiences.

The event is FREE of charge with lunch and t-shirt included, but seats are limited! Register Here: LaurelRidge.edu/EngCamp

Liz walked us throught the various programs available to students interested in engineering. She talked about their transfer programs, their technology programs and the access to G3 funding. She also explained the various fields of engineering that exist aside from the actual degree. Guy gave us a few statistics about those careers including the high demand in our area.
