We pre-recorded today's conversation via Zoom with Sally Michaels from Frederick County EDA to talk about National Manufacturing Day happening on Friday, October 2, 2020. Sally was in the middle of her vacation and literally pulled off the side of the road near Atlanta, GA to record our show today and talk about the EDA's plans for celebrating the day which they've extended through the month of October. Sally gave us some stats about the number of manufacturing jobs in Virginia & across the US and the ancillary positions they create along with the economic impact of those jobs. She shared some factoids and interesting stats about five things that were invented by women and why manufacturing came to be an important piece for low to middle income families to afford items that were previously financially unattainable. National Manufacturing Day will be virtual this year. You can see the videos of local manufacturing companies and access the information that Sally mentioned during the show on their website: https://www.explorefrederickcareers.com/ and by following them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FrederickCountyEDA You can reach Sally via email to: smichaels@YesFrederickVA.com to inquire about supporting their educational programs.
