We were in the studio for Tourism Tuesday - Winchester/Frederick County edition - with Justin Kerns from the Winchester/Frederick County Convention & Visitors Bureau to talk about several holiday markets around the area. The Bough & Dough Shop, located on the first floor of the Hexagon House, is a boutique-style holiday gift shop featuring talented local artisans. You will find unique handmade items, freshly baked goods, as well as a selection of freshly-cut greenery, wreaths, and pre-made bows for your holiday decorating. The shop will feature free food samples for taste testing products, pottery, art glass, handwoven baskets, unique handcrafted gifts, ornaments, artwork, and books on local history. Merry Maker Winter Market features handcrafted gifts for the holiday season from 20+ regional artisans, artists, crafters, and makers! It happens on November 30, 2019 from 12pm - 6pm at Dharma Studio, 160 N. Loudoun Street in Winchester. Handcrafted Holiday at Willow Shade celebrates their 4th annual handcrafted event at their historic home (Willow Shade, the childhood home of Willa Cather) in Gore, VA this holiday season. They will be hosting an evening filled with good company and Christmas shopping. This year they are planning their event on a very special day... Willa Cather's birthday! The event happens on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 1pm - 5pm at Willow Shade, 115 Stony Hill Road in Gore. For the 2019 holiday season, Belle Grove Plantation will feature decorations in each room of the historic Manor House. In addition to the centerpiece 12-foot tree in the Parlor, area Garden Clubs will adorn each room with natural decorations celebrating the theme of “All Creatures Great and Small.” Belle Grove will be open for touring December 6 – December 30, 2019 with the following schedule: Guided Tours: Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (last tour 3:15 p.m.) and Sundays, 1-5 p.m. (last tour 4:15 p.m.) Christmas by Candlelight (self-guided tours and live music): Friday and Saturdays 4-8 p.m. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day When your tour concludes, you're invited to enjoy warm spiced tea and cookies in the cozy historic kitchen.
