We were in the studio for Tourism Tuesday - Winchester/Frederick County edition - with Justin Kerns from the Winchester/Frederick County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and his guest, Jill Edlich, organizer of Ravenwood Faire. Ravenwood Faire is a Renaissance festival happening on October 26 & 27, 2019 from 10am - 7pm at Frederick County Fairgrounds. Get the details and pre-sale tickets on their website: https://ravenwoodfaire.us/ Jill told us about how the festival came to be a reality, the events & activities that will happen during the 2-day event - including a jousting match! There is still space available for vendors as well as mini-musical acts (think traveling minstrels) so reach out if you're interested via the website above. The event will also feature food and attendees are encouraged to attend wearing period clothing. A previous guest of The Valley Today, Rick Copeland with Misty Mountain Meadworks will also be at the festival with his mead; he will also be giving a talk on the history of mead. You can hear the podcast of his show here: https://theriver953.com/podcast/misty-mountain-meadworks/ As always, at the end of the show, Justin gave us a rundown of a few events happening this weekend. We talked about: the Dusk to Dawn Movie Marathon at Family Drive-in; the Farm to Film event happening on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in Middletown. Bob Clark, organizer of that event was also a guest on the show this week.
