We were in the studio for United Way Day with Elise from United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley and her guest, Greg Vossler, Chairman-Elect with ChildSafe Center - CAC (2 more points for me!) Greg told us about the services ChildSafe Center provides to abused children in our community (over 250 each year.) Their efforts focus on creating the most child-focused approach to the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse. The facility and services are specifically designed to create an atmosphere that is private, safe and child-friendly. ChildSafe Center - CAC works side by side with local law enforcement, prosecutors, child protective service workers, and treatment providers to provide a team of professionals investigating child abuse in an efficient and effective way that not only supports and advocates for the rights of the child, but also has the added benefit of a cost savings to the community. You can learn more about their organization and the services they offer on their website: https://www.childsafecenter.com/ Elise told us about the current outreach to local non-profits for projects that can be completed for Day of Caring. The deadline to submit a project is Wednesday, July 31, 2019. You can get more information about qualifications here: https://www.unitedwaynsv.org/day-caring She also reminded us of the monthly Rubbermaid Sale happening on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 8am - 11am in the Belk parking lot at Apple Blossom Mall. This month's recipients of the proceeds is Healthy Families.
