We pre-recorded today's conversation with Mariama Dryak, Program Coordinator for Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River to learn about the organization and their new storytelling/concert series, Voices of the Shenandoah.

Founded in 1988, their mission is to keep the North Fork of the Shenandoah River clean, healthy, and beautiful through advocacy, community action, education and science. Friends serves as the “community support organization” for Seven Bends State Park and assists other public lands sites with programs and projects throughout our watershed.

The event series entitled “Voices of the Shenandoah – In Story and Song”, features storytelling and live music at local breweries throughout the valley. Mariama told us how successful the first one was at Pale Fire Brewing on July 15, 2021.

She gave us details for the next 2 events in the series: Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5pm - 8pm at Backroom Brewery featuring live music with Prince Bellarose. Friday, September 17, 2021 from 6pm - 9pm at Swover Creek Farm Brewery featuring live music with Katie and Kelly. Stories/Songs are still being accepted for both of these events:
