Our conversation today welcomes back Brandy Boies, Director of Public Relations and Special Events for Laurel Ridge Community College, and retired US Army Major Jason Hatch. The conversation highlights the importance and impact of Laurel Ridge Community College, particularly focusing on the college’s recent edition of the Laureate magazine, which honors veterans in its Spring/Summer edition.

Brandy expresses excitement about returning to the show and discusses the inspiration behind the Laureate magazine, which started during the pandemic and has since produced numerous editions featuring different themes, including alumni and health professions. The magazine aims to showcase the diversity and opportunities available at Laurel Ridge.

Jason shares his journey of continuing education post-retirement from the Army. He initially sought therapy through art and found an unexpected passion for it at Laurel Ridge. He praises the personalized support and quality of education at the community college. He also shares his humanitarian efforts, particularly with Operation Snow Leopard, a nonprofit focused on aiding Afghan refugees.

The conversation touches on the importance of pursuing passions, no matter what they are, and the supportive environment Laurel Ridge provides, especially for veterans. Jason emphasizes the value of community colleges and how they can reignite one's passions and provide unique opportunities.
