Our conversation today with Tyler Hinkle, Shenandoah County's Planner is part of an ongoing series following the work on Shenandoah 2045 - Shenandoah County's comprehensive plan. The planning process will unfold over the course of four years with the majority of the community collaboration occurring from 2020-2022, with input in 2023-2024.
We discuss the updates and finalizations made to the comprehensive plan, including the completion of workshops with various commissions, the public engagement process, and the consolidation of the document to make it more digestible and usable. Tyler explains how the plan has been refined from over 1,100 pages to about 172 pages, ensuring it retains critical directives while removing redundancies.
We emphasize the importance of public involvement and detail the upcoming public hearing scheduled for August 1st, where community members can provide feedback or express support for the plan. Tyler emphasizes the availability of the final draft of the plan online and in local libraries, and encourages residents to review it and participate in the public hearing. The goal is to ensure the plan benefits the county's future, driven by community input and involvement.
