We pre-recorded today's conversation via Zoom with Lavenda Denney, Executive Director for the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick & Clarke County. Lavenda gave us a quick overview of the SPCA and explained the partnership they have with the City of Winchester. She talked about the impact COVID-19 has had on their adoption process and told us of their current in-person hours. We talked about the importance of foster families for their animals, plus she walked us through the personal experience of adopting an animal from their shelter - which as been "no-kill" since 2014. The pandemic has limited many of their fundraising abilities, however Lavenda told us about

  • opportunities to adopt a kennel;
  • donations of pet-related products such as cleaning supplies, cat litter and Purina cat/dog food;
  • shopping/donating to the SPCA Thrift Store;
  • Tongue Out Tuesdays;
  • Pets & A Picnic Raffle
