Our conversation today with Christine Patrick from Winchester Book Gallery gave all the details for Independent Bookstore Day happening across the country on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Now in its tenth year, Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April.  Every store is unique and independent, and every party is different. But in addition to authors, live music, cupcakes, scavenger hunts, kids' events, art tables, readings, barbecues, contests, and other fun stuff, there are exclusive books and literary items that you can only get on that day. Click here to learn more about Independent Bookstore Day.

Christine told us what to expect in her store that day which is featuring a theme of puzzles. She will have all types of puzzles throughout the shop that include jigsaw, word finds, crosswords, and more. The community is invited to come by and put a few pieces together or fill in a few blanks. She will be open that day from 8am until 8pm.

We also discussed the important role independent bookstores play in our local economy as well as our day-to-day lives. She told us about a few books she's reading and touted audiobooks as another great way to enjoy a book.
