We were in the studio with Sally Michaels from the Frederick County EDA to talk about the Worlds of Work (WoW!) Expo that took place on Wednesday & Thursday, October 24/25, 2018. Worlds of Work Expo is a career exploration event managed by Lord Fairfax Community College Career Pathways Consortium, in partnership with Barrett Machine, Inc., Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission, Frederick County Economic Development Authority, and Winchester Economic Development Authority. Over a two day period, WoW! hosts nearly 3,000 seventh grade students from the region. More than 70 businesses showcase equipment, vehicles, and machinery that students climb into, fix, and manipulate. There are also animals students can touch and care for as well as life-like mannequins they might splint and stitch. The event is designed to be a hands-on exploration of possible careers. Get more information about the event here: https://www.explorethewow.com/ We talked about the outcome of the event and our experience(s) as a vendor this year. Our News Director, Dylan Nicholls joined the conversation and talked about the interactive news setup he was able to showcase for the kids in attendance. The conversation carried on after the show finished on-air and you can hear the entire thing on the podcast below.
