Our conversation today with Celeste Brooks - Community Outreach Coordinator, and Ryan Cubbage - Community Liaison with Northwestern Prevention Collaborative (which includes Warren Coalition) focused on their programs & trainings that help build a stronger, more resilient community. The pair explained a few of their programs, talked about some upcoming events and told us about their Recovery Ally Training that happens on January 26, 2022.

Celeste explained the relationship between Northwestern Prevention Collaborative and the various coalitions in the Shenandoah Valley including the Warren Coalition which is what most of our conversation centered around today.

She also told us about the Recover Ally Training, sponsored by NPC for anyone who wants to support people in recovery from substance misuse or substance use disorder. The training will help you understand the science of addiction, the stigma, and give you tools for how to help. You will learn about the most difficult times in recovery - it's not what you think - what to say, what not to say, abuse vs misuse, addict/junkie vs person with substance use disorder, and post-acute withdrawal symptoms. This is a FREE virtual training happening on January 26, 2022 from 1pm - 4pm. Registration is required. You can do that here: https://nwprevention.org/recovery-ally

Ryan told us about the We See You, Warren County campaign including it's purpose and why it's needed. We talked about the monthly greeting and the impact it can have to create a stronger community. He also gave us details for their FREE Love Our Community event happening on February 15, 2022. You can find the Facebook event by clicking here.
