We were in the studio for a conversation with LaTasha Do'zia, Executive Director at the Youth Development Center in Winchester. The Youth Development Center's mission is to foster physical, academic and individual growth through community partnerships, engaged staff and a safe sustainable environment. LaTasha told me about the variety of educational and recreational programs they offer to both children and adults in Winchester and the surrounding area. Those include:

  • Open Gym time from from 10am to 3pm for adults every weekday. For middle and high schoolers, Open Gym from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Thursday and from 3pm to 9pm on Fridays. Adults pay $2 to play and students ALWAYS play for free!
  • "Adventures Beyond" program is a Saturday enrichment program for teens and young adults with special needs. Activities include games, sports, crafts, and food preparation.
  • The YDC's Summerfest program offers over 70 different enrichment camps for students in grades 1-7. Courses are offered in fine and performing arts, physical education, cooking, and lots more!
  • The YDC is also available for lease for birthday parties, lock-ins, meetings, and conferences.
